HERNÁN & GABRIELA SIERRA

Tegucigalpa

Hernán Sierra is the pastor of Iglesia Biblica La Roca in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. As a young man with a passion for Christ, a powerful voice, and a fluency in English and Spanish, he was called upon to translate for conference speakers at Ministerios Evangélicos de Las Americas (MEDA), a Honduran conference ground and pastoral training seminary. His view of theology was transformed as he translated for pastors and Bible teachers from all over the world. God gave him an understanding of the doctrines of grace, Biblical inerrancy, and the sufficiency of Christ in salvation.

At his home church, Hernán met resistance from leadership when he began teaching these truths. With continued opposition, the Spirit compelled him to remain steadfast, and he was removed as a teacher and leader. As this resistance increased, so did Hernán’s burden to preach and shepherd the flock of God. Hernán planted Iglesia Biblica la Roca in Tegucigalpa in April 2012 with a handful of people who began meeting in his garage. As the ministry continued to grow, so did Hernán’s faith in the Lord to guide his steps. He left his secular job in 2014 to devote his time to the church and to attend the seminary at MEDA where his passion for the truth of Christ was first kindled. In November 2018, Hernán graduated from MEDA and was ordained as a pastor. After much prayer and counsel, at the end of last year Hernán started in his church: IBEX (Expositor´s Bible Institute), in Tegucigalpa, as an option in the capital city for pastors who want to get trained in rightly dividing Scriptures. IBEX currently has 18 students (including some Baptist pastors and even some Pentecostal pastors).

Hernán and his wife Gabriela have two sons: Hernán (Nanchi), Gabriel (Gabo) and a daughter: Michelle (Michi).
